Our Story

Sound Decision has been a trusted, family-owned business since 2006. Founded by Jay Hubbard—who turned a childhood hobby of installing car stereos for friends into a lifelong career—the shop has consistently grown and evolved over the years. That deep dedication to 12V electronics led to the opening of our expanded location at 1923 Demers Ave in Grand Forks on May 4th, 2015.

A New Chapter & Sister Stores

On August 1st, 2026, Sound Decision began an exciting new era as Jay passed the torch to Nick Paulson. Nick brings a wealth of premium 12V experience to the install bay, having founded and operated Audio Garage with his brother for over 22 years. Nick is now the proud owner of both Audio Garage and Sound Decision. Moving forward, the two shops will operate as sister stores, working closely together to expand our service offerings, grow our talented team, and share our collective experience and knowledge across the region.

Because our stores share the same unwavering commitment to the client, we do things very differently than a standard retailer. We spend significant time looking over your vehicle with you, listening to your current system, and exploring how you use the vehicle—whether it's a daily driver or a prized possession reserved for special occasions. By listening to your goals and asking leading questions, we gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs so we can engineer a tailored solution. Once we have a plan, we invite you into our showroom to go over options and discuss products we recommend before you make an investment. The Installation & Our Promise

Once you approve your proposal, your vehicle enters our well-equipped installation bay. Our technicians have a full suite of diagnostic and testing equipment at their disposal, alongside access to a dedicated wood shop, metalworking shop, and fiberglass shop to ensure superior craftsmanship. From classic cars to boats to UTVs, it is all fair game.

After the installation is complete, your vehicle undergoes a detailed check-out procedure to verify everything is in proper working order. When you arrive for pickup, a team member will walk you through the operation of your new equipment so you feel completely confident using it. We guarantee that you will receive a professional, clean installation backed by a LIFETIME installation warranty.
